Yes, I prefer my windows to be undressed — I love the beautiful view [as does Lady, right] & usually my only neighbours are geese or maybe a couple deer.
This summer, though, the landlord has thoughts of building a house on the back half of the property which would definitely mean people out & about outside my bedroom window.
A year ago, in Not Curtains, But . . ., all my windows were bare — I did remove the curtains from my bedroom. Since then, we’ve also installed Gorgeous Glass Sliding Shutters in the small living room window — definitely the highlight of the whole place.
I love them so much that they were the obvious solution for my room — with a more elegant colour scheme.
I love the gorgeous blue & ivory colour scheme of my bedroom sliding shutters.
For a special treat, I soldered a small pod of dolphins–an old pin–to a corner of the valance where the clear glass meets the ivory.
I love how whether the background is the blue sky or ocean, they appear to be swimming.
I have a bit of work left to finish the shutters off. The bottom face board can be put on now & then I’ll paint both top & bottom sliders. I’m trying something a little different & painting only the end pieces the same blue of the wall so, hopefully, they’ll ‘disappear’, & the middle sections ivory to match the shutter trim — hmmm, we’ll see. 😉
And the framed Van Gogh & sunshine mirror were too thick so I need some creative ‘skinny’ art for the walls — hmm, later.
First I’m working on a full tutorial–including how to cut stained glass–which details the secret material used to make smooth sliding wood shutters without any mechanical pieces.
But right now, I’m too excited to keep them all to myself:
What do you think?
Would you consider glass shutters instead of curtains or blinds?
I’d love to hear your thoughts.
In the meantime, I’m impatient to show you the finished product, so I better get to work.
